April 2012 ~ Start of a New Growing Season
We are always looking forward to meeting new garden enthusiasts. It does not matter if you have experience or not. All you need is a willingness to play in the dirt, dig out a few weeds and share and learn from each other. This year we will be rotating our crops, expanding the herb garden and attempting to grow squash once again.
Our first work day is this Saturday, April 28 at 10am.
We will continue to meet every Saturday at 10am through June 2.
On June 23, 9am-12pm we will have our annual Very Big Workday where we dig out every weed, mulch paths and dig borders. This really cleans up the garden before the hot weather hits us hard, making the hot days easier to handle in the garden! You can sign up for the event at the VLC website on the Project Page.
I post our upcoming work days on the GFG Blog but if you would like direct email reminders of up-coming GFG work days, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and ask to be put on the GFG email list.
Throughout April and May we will be digging and planting but once we get to June, weeding, watering, harvesting and delivery become daily tasks that we share between many to make the work light. If you are able and willing to join the “Weed n’ Water Brigade” or the “Harvest and Delivery Team” please indicate it in your email.
